Beth is the multi-faceted, award winning, creative force best known as the creator of the legendarily innovative, long running and critically acclaimed UnCabaret (Comedy Central, Amazon, Sirius etc).

It’s A Lot is a funny, soulful, music-infused piece about my own changes in the midst of this intensely changing — it’s-a-lot — world. My musical collaborator is the amazing Mitch Kaplan and I’m so excited about sharing this show right now.”

It’s A Lot has been performed in Los Angeles at El Cid and in Palm Springs at the Palm Springs Cultural Center and The Revolution Theater, where it was nominated for Best Cabaret Show by BroadwayWorld Palm Springs. It is currently booking dates for theaters, festivals, cultural centers, and special events, and works beautifully in cabaret rooms and intimate theater spaces of various sizes.

It’s A Lot is a hilarious and heartfelt show, about living through—and creating— change. About grabbing the universe by the tail and riding the sparkle. The story is about landing on your feet and then using the ground as a launching pad. It weaves the creation of UnCabaret in with eviction, manifestation, reinvention, recovery, liberation, identity politics and what’s really going on in this so called the new age.

As the host and producer of UnCabaret (still running 30+ yrs on!) - unhomophobic, unmysogynstic, unxenophobic and unhacky - Beth has worked with some of the most notable iconoclastic names in comedy and entertainment. And The LA Times calls her the “godmother of alternative comedy!” Her role as a driving force in modern comedy has been wildly covered in places like covered on PBS, CNN and in Bob Odenkirk and Jesse David Fox’s books.

Why This Show, Now

In a time of relentless change, audiences hunger for experiences that are more than distraction—they crave models for how to adapt, transform, and stay connected.

It’s A Lot is a response to that need. Through comedy, music, and personal storytelling, Beth Lapides creates a shared experience designed to ignite courage and perseverance—offering a lived example of how to meet uncertainty with humanity and feel the full spectrum of emotions that come with it.

The result is not just a performance, but a roadmap for engaging with the world as it is now: with greater presence, resilience, and a renewed sense of aliveness.

What People Are Saying

“More than the Godmother of Alternative Comedy, Beth Lapides is a cultural treasure whose storytelling skills are topped only by her ability to attract and inspire other storytellers to innovate and create at their highest levels. I’ve had the good fortune of watching Beth’s latest solo show, It’s A Lot, through several iterations, and it is pure delight. With her trademark wit and musical flare, she plumbs the depths of her own colorful history, mining stories that are as relatable as they are entertaining as they are transformative.”

— Corny Koehl
Emmy Award Winning Producer Co-Creator “Super Soul Sunday”

“When I went to see Beth Lapides’s new show, IT’S A LOT, I knew I was going to hear some very big ideas. I also knew that I would laugh (a lot) and that I would think about it (a lot) for a long time after. I was right. IT’S A LOT is filled with huge ideas about Transformation and the struggle to live in the world. It’s also wildly funny. The only way I can describe what Beth Lapides does onstage is to call her a “stand-up philosopher.”

— Tracy Poust
Executive Producer “Will & Grace”

“Beth is an inspired storyteller! In It’s A Lot’s funny stories and songs, she reveals how she navigates her way through change and the divine struggle of transformation .”

— Tim Bagley
